POT TRIALS

  • Crops: Monocot and dicot crops are to be used as the test crops

  • Control plus different treatments  at 1/2x, 1x , 2x normal application rates.

  • 8 Replicates (four for root study) to have enough degrees of freedom for ANOVA’s

  • 120 Pots per table

  • Trail duration – appropriate time – 3 weeks for root studies, 6 weeks for plant biomass production

  • 6weeks to evaluate flowering and fruiting

  • Weekly photos of comparative treatments

  • Soils, Hydroponic solutions or growth media

  • Own soil or growth media for evaluation of specific related problems

  • PRS – Cation and Anion Root probes for monitoring nutrient  dynamics in fertiliser band and surrounding soil.

  • Brix Readings

  • PLANTSAP R. Monitoring of plant sap dynamics on young and old leaves for diagnosis

RECOMMENDATIONS

  • If from the greenhouse trial the product in combination with fertilisers, or on its own, gives statistically significantly higher biomass yields (95% surety) than the control, it qualifies for a Group 3 Registration.

  • Additions to fertilisers of bio-stimulants need to be seen in context, keeping in mind that interactions do occur. Sometimes it is necessary to add additional ameliorants such as growth hormones, amino acids, bases, surfactants, energy sources etc.  On their own they may not show reactions, but in the right combinations, efficacy can be vastly improved.

  • Crops and soils react differently to fertilisers and bio-stimulants, this needs to form part of the original protocol and the intended claims envisaged for the product marketing.

REGISTRATIONS

  • REGISTRATIONS PROTOCOL FOR GROUP 3 (Greenhouse study).

  • Assistance with the registration procedure, compiling concise summary of the trial plus other substantiating information

  • Certificate of analysis of the active ingredient must be supplied.

  • Certificate of analysis from an ISO 17025 accredited or AgriLASA certified laboratory indicating the highest levels of potentially harmful elements.

  • Proof of efficacy relating to every claim made in favour of the product.

  • Statistical analysis and logical scientific conclusions

REPORTS

  • Full plant analysis of pooled replicates, unless element uptake needs to be verified, then replicates are analysed separately for ANOVA’s

  • Full soil analysis of pooled replicates, unless as above.

  • Brix readings during growth on young and mature leaves if required to ascertain dynamics of elements.

  • Independent statistical analysis done by accredited body.

  • Field-scout Green index + technology is sensitive to low Nitrogen levels in the leaves

  • Final signed PDF report with weekly photos of comparative treatments and control.
